Dillon från Noble Records i USA har gjort det igen! Magisk privatpressad rökare. Beställningar tar lång tid att komma. I vissa fall några månader då jag måste samla ihop.
Why It Hits Different
A lot of private-press records are rare just because they’re rare. Windflower is rare because it’s incredible. From the second “Set Your Heart on Fire” kicks in, you’re hit with a wall of fuzzy, melodic lead guitar from Tim Patterson that sounds like it’s screaming out of a 1974 Marshall stack. But what really separates this from your standard “boogie-rock” archive is Robert May’s keyboard work. He adds these spacey, psychedelic washes that elevate the whole album into that progressive, “space-rock” territory that collectors go crazy for.
The Story for the Crate Diggers
- The “500 Club”: Only about 500 of these were ever pressed. Most stayed in Pennsylvania, sold at local club dates, or handed out to friends. Finding a clean copy today is like finding a needle in a haystack.
- The Sound: This isn’t “over-produced” L.A. studio rock. This is the sound of five guys in a room in East Freedom, PA, capturing lightning in a bottle.
Condition & Investment
We’ve seen the market for these private-press gems absolutely explode recently. While prices for an original McKee pressing used to be a “best-kept secret,” they are now hitting that $200+ range for top-shelf copies. It’s a blue-chip piece of American underground history.
Track Highlights:
- “Jay Jam”: A total instrumental burner. If you like extended guitar heroics, this is your track.
- “Dreams”: The title track is a beautiful, mid-tempo psych-rocker that shows off the band’s songwriting chops.
- “Supernatural Mind”: Pure 70s mysticism. Close your eyes, drop the needle, and you’re there.
This is a one-and-done kind of record. Once these move back into private collections, they don’t come out for years.
